one of the “mom & pop” over-the-air stations here was airing those “East Side Gang” shows a while back. they were just hammy garbage for teens in the 40s, but I did note that it was unusual for media that old to not only have a black cast member, but one that wasn’t made to shuck and jive, either. he seemed to really be one of the crew, at least during the small amount of time I afforded to getting a handle on the show.
