Exactly. This cop needs to get off his high horse(pun intended) this doesnt constitute destracted driving ,in fact digging for your money takes your attention away a lot more than pulling up an app on your phone while at an almost complete stop in a drive-thru line. Would it have made a difference if his phone was in a handsfree device?
Also not sure about Canada but in my state a motorcycle cant even use the drive-thru so what was a motorcycle cop even doing behind him?
Presumably they would have been in hot pursuit.
According to the linked article, other than the specifics of it being a highway versus a different type of roadway, that’s exactly what the authorities are claiming went down:
” RCMP can confirm that on May 13, 2024 the individual was observed driving a vehicle on a public roadway while using a cellphone. A Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan RCMP officer initiated a traffic stop with the individual. The individual then pulled in the McDonald’s parking lot, where the traffic violation was issued," the statement said.
It is left to the observer to decide if they choose to believe that version of events or not.
Fantastic, if he doesn’t simply pull out an UNO ‘reverse’ card in court and have it applied by a reasonably ludic judge, he can instead forward it to McDonalds (Canadian Legal Representing Entity) by reckoning from their ‘Have You ordered on the App?’ greeting.
Then the cop can live hir best life by being shouted at by a clown (in a wig and proxy for suit or robes) for however many hours that entity would like to bill.
