Texans threaten to cover land with pigs’ blood to block Muslim cemetery

Also, relatedly, some places in Texas are refusing to issue birth certificates to children born in Texas (hence, American citizens, under the 14th amendment), because reasons…

Because “the Obama administration in 2012 expanded its efforts to protect millions of immigrants from deportation” (from the article).

At least you can say they’re equally prejudiced against black AND brown.

That’s true, but a Christian society did create the rule. The English developed the technique during the plagues.
I wonder what rules the Germans have.

Here’s an informative article: Muslim burial rites clash with Conn. laws

Sounds like an issue over the interpretation of the 14th specifically the Citizenship Clause.

Here you go Deldzoeb & Mindysan33:

Done with total sarcasm, mind you. Hopefully people get the joke when they see this. This is meant to
mock the backward people who don’t even attempt to understand Muslims.

I just think it’s funny.

I think so, you think so - but apparently @anon67050589 doesn’t think so (or my sarcasm meter is busted. Could be that too.)

I have no illusion some Commie Canadian communicating in any way at all with Texans who want to spread pig blood to ward of Muslims would do any good. I was only trying to communicate with chgoliz, on the assumption that he/she is not such a one as the Texans under discussion…

You might want to read your own link over more closely. Nowhere in that article is the depth of the burial mentioned as being one of the points of contention.

I did a quick Google, and everything I found suggested that in Muslim burial practices, it is recommended but not mandatory (recognizing that different places have different soil conditions and whatnot) that the grave be about the height of an average person. So, something like 6 ft.

It makes me shake my head. We know how pathogens work now. So if contagion is the question, dig a ten foot hole, line the bottom with mulch, and plant trees. Heck, top the grave with bentonite clay, nothing will get through that pathogen wise.

When I shuffle off my mortal coil, I am going to have a gunnera planted on top of me

It’s weird that they focused on the un-processed nature of the corpses if they’re concerned about ground water contamination, because embalmed bodies are potential hazards to ground water quality.

They’re brown like them hindus right - so surely the pig thing works the same as the cow thing?

What worries me is the potential for a splinter child group of the two that would somehow form. You’d then not have a Dumbfuck Borg Collective but instead a Dumbfuck Voltron.

I have just spent actual time trying to figure out what you’re talking about.

Does this have to do with @anon61221983’s post wondering if they’d also be just as offended by Jews and environmentalists? There are two aspects: the lack of embalming, but also the bigotry. Believe me, the kinds of Texans who come up with excuses to be bigoted against Muslims are also bigoted against Jews and environmentalists. The lack of embalming is an excuse, not the real reason they’re fighting the cemetery.

I’m saying that I think they’re bigger xenophobic haters than against just one group (Muslims), while you seem to think I’m saying that they might not be xenophobic haters at all. ???

But see the pigs don’t have cooties.

Wonder if they keep out Jews too?

Yes… someone born here is a citizen, according to the 14th amendment to the constitution… it says nothing about the status of the parents, just the status of the person born here.

And that will be my side project to my gabber side project… It’ll be a chip tunes project, that plays only songs from Voltron…

That’s where music often starts!

I say this as a tinkerer who knows nothing about music, but has yet been invited to play concerts for people. As you mess around and sonify your ideas, it can become music to some.
