I actually said “holy shit!” out loud when I heard Al singing.
As soon as I saw “Shasta” I knew what the jingle had to be. I will confess to liking it a fair amount when I was 8.
i was 15. Same reaction. In 1983 my family moved from Guantanamo to a Navy base in Spain. During our interim month Stateside, this jingle infected me and I knew all the words. I seem to remember a version that enunciated and drew out “Ssssssshhhhhhhasta” at the end.
Never knew thought about who wrote it. Ha, cool.
Right? Being an artist doesn’t mean you can live on air and fan adoration… I assume that most artists would prefer to make a living making art that is meaningful, but that’s not the world we live in right now.
That’s actually… a really good jingle.
