The apocalypse in film and fiction

It’s one of those looks-a-bit-like-a-Benz-from-behind MK II Granadas built in Cologne 1977-1985. Not bad with the 2.8 litre V6 engine.

Oddly enough, I think I saw one of those very cars a few weeks back at the local chip shop. But it might have been the older model?

I got talking to the owner. Apparently it had belonged to the Swiss ambassador to Ireland. It was a left-hand drive, built in Cologne with a 2.8 V6.

That’s a MK I, they were built in Cologne and Dagenham (1972-1976).
Oddly enough, in South Africa the MK I was available in a V8 version.
All the MK IIs were made in Cologne.

After hearing such things about the movie for years I finally watched a few years ago, and I don’t get it. It’s not a masterpiece but it’s perfectly decent science fiction.

And even though it doesn’t present as a traditional apocalyptic story, The Lathe of Heaven. Hard to explain why without giving away a particular plot twist.
