The phrase ‘paranoid science fiction’ automatically brings Philip K Dick to mind. (PKD FTW!)

Macmillan had a series entitled “The Best of Soviet Science Fiction”, which included stuff by the Strugatsky brothers that qualifies.

Glad the Strugatsky Bros made this list. I would love to have seen Lem’s Memoirs Found in a Bathtub in the mix as well.

Two “more PDK than PKD” suggestions: Ursula Le Guin ‘the Lathe of Heaven’ and K. W. Jeter "Dr Adder. The latter contains a character who is a somewhat unflattering parody of Jeter’s friend PKD
