Federal prosecutors have said the probe into Lexington is part of a broader effort to crack down on unconstitutional policing at small and mid-size police departments and in underserved regions throughout the Deep South.
“Gone are the days when rural isolation and remoteness could conceal the injustice of unconstitutional policing,” said Todd Gee, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi. Addressing other police departments in the country, Gee said: “Make changes now if your agency is policing in these same unlawful ways.”

In the coming days, Mr. Biden is set to sign a bill that would weaken federal environmental reviews for certain semiconductor manufacturing projects that receive subsidies through the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act. The bill, which has divided Democrats, underscores the challenges facing Mr. Biden as he tries to advance his economic agenda alongside his ambitious climate goals.
The legislation would exempt qualifying chip projects from reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA, which requires federal agencies to assess the potential environmental effects of proposed major federal actions before they can proceed. The House passed the bill last week, and the Senate unanimously passed it in December.

It’s almost like the US should have stopped supplying weapons to Israel as soon as they turned the “hostage rescue” to a genocide. And taken a stronger stand against Bibi and his cronies.
The US should absolutely protect the Israeli people from Iranian (and Hezbollah) attacks. The Israeli people didn’t sign up for this. They continue to protest Bibi and the genocide of Palestinians.
What would make a strong statement would be to defend the Iranian and Lebanese people from Israeli missile attacks, too. After all, Iranians and Lebanese people didn’t sign up for this, either.

that’s part of the problem, though… not all Israelis are doing that. Plenty are completely onboard with these wars and their continuation, including a ground invasion of Lebanon and more targeted bombing of Iran. There is certainly a peace contingent in Israel, but they seem to be on their backfoot as of late. Much like here, anti-war voices and even those advocating for the two-state solution are being not only shunned, but shut down and silenced…
the Israeli public, I think, is the ONLY people who can stop what’s happening in Israel. While some are willing to do so, others are willing to use whatever means at hand to keep the wars going.

But it’s a minority. Approval for Netanyahu and his genocide is below 40% from what I’ve seen from all but the state-controlled media polls.
