The biggest abortion lie of all: "They do it for the money"

There has to be some balance between outright turning back and letting them multiply faster than the rest. One is bad today, the other is a catastrophe tomorrow.

Conversely, name any institution you like and there won’t be many of dumb people involved in higher than very menial positions that are now increasingly automated away.

Ever heard of Senator Joe Biden?

I said institution you like. That should preclude vast majority of politicians. :stuck_out_tongue:

The point is to use the dog whistle to get elected. If they took away the right of personhood for women permanently, they’d have lost their biggest vote-getter.

And remember: red states have higher unwanted pregnancy stats. They need abortion to remain legal so that they can transport their loved ones somewhere for a safe, legal abortion whenever necessary.

There’s a senator with the same name as the Vice President of the United States?

Clearly they won’t be sending you to the moon.

This remark most reasonably means working moms whose cash benefits and access to reproductive health care were attacked by extremist evangelicals in Congress and elsewhere.

Kinda reminds me of an old joke about jazz clubs.

How do you run a jazz club for a year and end up with one million dollars?
By having two millions dollars to begin with.

In my experience from talking to a number of people on this issue, it seems to be a form of “first, do no harm.” There seems to be a sense that however objectionable a candidate’s other policies are, at least they don’t support killing babies. It’s a view that takes any nuance out of voting, and is very open to exploitation. I don’t think there is an easy answer to the question of personhood, and the fact that late term abortions are so rare is implicit acknowledgement of this. I just think a pragmatic approach will recognise that banning or restricting abortion won’t reduce its incidence as much as it will put more women at risk, and the most effective way to be anti abortion would be to support candidates and policies that increase access to healthcare and education and thereby reduce the incidence of unwanted pregnancy.

That last bit seems to have gotten considerably more controversial than it should be after the rein of Bush the Lesser and his ‘ignorance is strength’ approach to educating the nation’s youth on how mot to get pregnant. If only the majority of vocal conservatives felt as you do. :disappointed:
