Although they are portraying him as Chauncy Gardener from “Being There” it’s just a likely he knew he had no chance in keeping control of the company so he just rode it out and still got way more money than he’d ever have wanted. The problem would mostly be in the eyes of the narcissistic business types who are cheated of the victory of destroying him utterly. I’m sure more than one has tried to explain to him how he’s he’s been “beaten” and he’s just repilied “If it makes you happy to think so.”
