C14 dating works on the principle that we know the rate at which C14 is produced in the Earth’s atmosphere and subsequently incorporated into organisms through their diet, water, etc. (And because we also know its half life and it stops getting absorbed upon death of the organism, we can calculate how long ago it died). Pretty sure it wouldn’t give accurate results on alien organisms
