Politically the GOP calculus is this… without giving a major tax break/legislative win to the doner-class; those doners threatened to withhold the money that the GOP has to have to be competitive in elections.
Without that money, the GOP can’t rile up all the socially conservative uneducated white voters it requires to actually win elections and would be dead.
With this tax bill, they ensure the flood of dark campaign money continues to flow; and despite its hit on middle and low income Americans; with enough lies and the $$$ to back them up, they have a chance of holding on. Its worked in the past; might work in the future.

Uh… you’re kidding right? She was exonerated on this ‘trumped up’ charge. Almost all other government officials have used personal email servers while in office, including Conoleeza Rice and Colin Powell. trump as we speak and his whole staff are currently using personal email servers, but where is the outrage? What about trumps emailson his unsecure email server? Besides, this ONE old issue which has been laundered in public and beaten to death is your main concern? None of the other issues I have raised makes you fear for our nation?

Realize this, if trump is guilty of collusion and almost all evidence is pointing that way, we basically have a KGB agent as a sitting President of the United States. Putin is closer to our government secrets than Congress… just think about that. But… you’re only concerned about Hillary’s non issue emails?

I just cancelled xmas plans with some members of my family who are trumpers. Fuck them. Seriously.I hope they loose their homes when they can’t pay the bills and their kids get sick and die and the dog gets run over. Fuck every one of the idiots who voted for that worthless POS.

Actually, i hadn’t realized that the $10,000 is a cap on your maximum deductions from all state, local, and property taxes combined. So yeah, this is increasingly looking like it will not only destroy my business, but severely damage my landlord/housemate’s ability to own the home we live in.

I’m not pretending that HRC is Trump. I just don’t think the comparison is useful; HRC is a bad actor. It’s like saying “Putin is so terrible, I wish for the days of Boris Yeltsin!”, or “ISIS are horrifying monsters, we should support Assad,” or any number of other false dichotomies. The juxtaposition of Republicans and Democrats is how we got into this fucking mess in the first place; Trump is the dividend of 40 years of neoliberalism and corruption of American politics. 16 of those years were the Clinton and Obama presidencies; they have done their share to bring us here. Let’s not pine for the other devil.

I don’t think you’re wrong exactly. Money is now treated as speech. Words don’t count for nothing, but their value is in part informed by how far the money carries them.
