I smirk at most of Bolling’s pieces, but I really enjoyed this. I think my enjoyment was primarily due to having the same parodic impulse as he in my art – to the point where I ask myself, “Do I even have a ‘voice’? I am anything beyond a rote chameleon?” – and here Bolling has leaned into that impulse and produced genius. Excelsior!
Does “Doug: The Movie” have the ghost of James Caan as the bad guy or Doug’s estranged father? Maybe as leader of the giant wombats? Asking for a friend.
I really feel like Jude Law could pull this off.

What exactly is Doug doing with the propane torch, beaker and tubing in the penultimate panel? Is it a meth thing?
And what is Jude Law doing in the movie poster? Reaching over from the wayback of a station-wagon?
