Fair question!
Who here purposely chars their marshmallows into coal?
I remember when my middle school had a vexing problem. A number of 14- and 15-year-old girls wore lipstick, and they would put it on or touch it up in the girls room.
That was fine, but then one girl decided to kiss the mirror. Somehow, that became a kind of fad, and pretty soon. girls were leaving dozens of lip prints. Every night, the janitor would have to spend time removing them and the next day, thoughtless girls would just do it again.
Finally, the principal heard about it all and decided to take action. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the janitor. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the janitor because it wasn’t easy to clean the mirrors every night.
To demonstrate the difficulty of cleaning the mirrors, she asked him to show the girls how much effort was required. He took out a long-handled squeegee, walked into a stall and dipped it in the toilet, and began wiping the mirror with it.
The yearbook editors later wrote that no problem in our middle school had ever been solved that quickly.
