Yes. The scopeless gun nuts have turned this into an Obama issue, where there is none. The overly-eco-crazy have turned it into a turtle issue, where there is none. The Bundys have turned it into a war, just like Ed and Elaine Brown in NH. The Feds have ratcheted up the Defcon level like they have done in so many other situations… The situation needs to be de-escalated on ALL fronts. It’s not worth anyone dying over. Seriously. But every party is too prideful to take a step back.
That’s a very different story involving very different parties under very different circumstances. I don’t see how it’s remotely relevant to a rancher who expects free use of public land for his private business.
If he does think that’s how public resources should work then I at least hope he’s ideologically consistent, and not one of those hypocritical jerks who thinks he should get lots of free stuff from the Feds but everyone else who does is a freeloading parasite.

If the BLM decides to raid Bundy’s ranch, that puts then outside their jurisdiction. Legal issues and conflicts with local or State agencies over any action will get even more complicated if militias protecting the Bundy ranch try to prevent any BLM actions outside the claimed Federal properties.
The local Sheriff seems to be ready for a fight, but the Governor is looking like he’s really not happy with the way the Federalistas have behaved. Somebody wanting to make a name for himself is likely to push too hard and things will get ugly fast.

What exactly are you proposing, that all cabinet-level positions should be decided by general election? That all government positions should be decided by general election? I don’t see that working out well considering that most voters can barely recall their elected representatives’ names, let alone find the time or expertise to personally vet thousands of potential candidates for government positions.

I do agree whole heartedly there is a problem. I would like to find a peaceful solution.
First, though we should look at how the BLM came into existence.
Is it any surprise it’s the same president that sent emissaries to work with china, took the American dollar off the gold standard, and exported our national debt to other nations?
Now ask the real question.
Do you the American citizen have any reasonable ability to purchase land from the BLM to start a new business or grow plants and live as a free human being?

But foreign companies that buy our debt do.

Just to be clear: I’m given to fairly radical critiques of the power structures within which we live. But I don’t like the idea of “sheeple” – that most people are passive and ignorant of what’s happening around them. It’s an idea that turns an egalitarian impulse into its opposite.

While officially not legal in the US, I assure you, in the last decade or so, arrests for debts owed the state, county or city have been on the rise. Or have you never heard of bench warrants for delinquent child support payers?

As to “well regulated” and “militia”, don’t try to use modern vernacular on a 200 year old document. The term well regulated was used as it applies to clocks and timepieces, meaning up to date, and well maintained, or kept in good order. Militia meant all able bodied men over the age of 17. See 10 U.S. Code § 311.
I believe child support in those cases have been prosecuted though, very rarely and only under extreme circumstances, under child neglect or more commonly individuals who drive without drivers licenses because they had them taken away by their state officials; of which, were put into jail for the maximum fine because of the precedence of not paying for their children.
Think of it this way if I lent you 10k I get a percentage back in interest. That’s a gamble that’s why I charge you interest. Because I am gambling.
The person who is trying to change their lives by borrowing should never be responsible for MY GAMBLE.
