Do white-collar crimes count?

“It’s right there in the name!!” So tired of that argument. If you bring up the GDR or DRC, they look at you like you are speaking in tongues.

There is no way this could possibly be misused, right? Shooting someone you “suspect” may have been involved in looting or “criminal mischief” is a pretty broad avenue, eh?

I believe that’s the point, yeah. *sigh*

Well, compared to their attitudes, the NSDAP probably does count as socialist. I mean they had publicly funded infrastructure projects, wanted the government in charge of business rather than business in charge of government, were anti-Christianity and were a murderous bunch of bastards.

As best I can gather that’s pretty much their definition of socialism.

We could ask Ahmaud Arbery, but he is very much dead because some “upright citizens”(/s) decided he was a “looter” (or burglar or whatever nonsense they made up, but we all know they just wanted to shoot a Black man to death).
so, gee, Governor Ron, what could possibly go wrong?

Fascists are fine with socialist-style programmes as long as they only benefit people of their own ethnicity. That’s how it was with the Nazi party, that’s how it is with AfD and its Identitarian allies (and, so we’re not singling out Germany, other fascist movements around the world).

Which, to be clear, is not the same as wanting the government or the people to own businesses (the more specific definition of socialism). Fascists (and right-wing authoritarians in general) want to ensure that businesses operate only at the sufferance of the fascist state, and that if the business owners somehow offend the government or its autocrat then the business or its profits can be taken away or re-assigned.

tl;dr: these right-wing morons, blinded as they are by their bigotry, don’t understand how anything works.

Florida. Sadly… as always. While most other states ramp up Covid-19 restrictions…

Florida has not implemented any new restrictions. On Oct. 22, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis loosened restrictions on visits to nursing homes, saying increased risk of infection is outweighed by positive mental health benefits of increased social interaction. Florida does not have a statewide mask mandate.

Real Democracies choose their leaders by lottery (akin to Jury Duty). This is known as sortition, and ensures that that our leaders are not hucksters, but ordinary people… The Kim Dynasty won the lottery.

Two thoughts:

  • I seriously doubt they get 10,000 attendees, let alone a million.
  • Like “Blue Lives Matter” or the anti-maskers who say “My Body, My Choice,” the so-called “Million MAGA March” is just the latest example of privileged douchebags stealing slogans from an actual group of disenfranchised people because they can’t come up with any ideas of their own.

Well, yes, that’s hopefully obvious.

But I suppose these days it does need spelling out.

Yes. It does. Even here.

“People will not accept this Rigged Election!” Trump tweeted on Tuesday night, responding to right-wing social media performer Scott Adams’s suggestion that people were being “brainwashed to accept the results” of Biden’s electoral college and popular vote win.

eta: #MillionMAGAMarch is trending on Twitter… with pancakes!
