The only good “Q” is a Star Trek “Q”
You’re never going to get a car that can turn into a submarine writing headlines like that.
Thats how far the line has moved. Now one of STNG’s greatest villains is less of a bad guy than another ficticious “Q”. How evil do you have to be to be worse than a malevolent supreme being?
After Moonraker I really lost interest.
I work with a guy who looks like a slightly older version of TNG-era John de Lancie. So far he has behaved, but I have my eye on him. It could just be one of Q’s tricks to keep me away from my starship.
He did it before, be careful!
I hated the character so much, that it caused me to stop watching NG. But Picard always annoyed the hell out of me, so Q was more of an assist with the decision.
I also hate Q on NG, but I just suffer through those episodes (and skip in the rewatching). Q (NG) has only slightly more logic than Q(Anon), but all bow before Q (Bond).
I think of him more as a Loki-type figure. A malicious deity who gradually ends up becoming more of a wild card than an outright villain.
i have to admit i lost interest halfway through moonraker while i saw it at the theater.
Patrick Stewart’s voice sounded so weak in that trailer. Is that just the Picard character or is that the actor’s natural tone now?
I guess after you left, you didn’t… attempt re-entry?
ETA: Hopefully this clip will dissuade the curious from actually watching any amount of Moonraker
GASPS
Of course, in the original myths Loki is more someone who gradually becomes more of an outright villain than a wild card.
I guess that depends on which order you read the myths in!
The man is 80 now… so.
