The Paleoart of Julius Csotonyi

The Dinosaurs are great, not sure why they are photoshopped onto badly frankensteined backdrops.

Nice eye candy.

But how is it that they are so big and don’t sink their toes into the sand or mud? That detail wrecks it for me.

Not that they’re bad illustrations… but I’ll take Doug Henderson or Gregory S. Paul over this hi-def style of illustration any day.

Hm. Most of the large dinosaurs pictured are raising a bit of dust. And even large animals don’t always bury their feet in the ground wherever they walk.

The image featuring Mononykus is actually a pretty small dino (~1 m in length).

(Disclaimer: I’m a fan of Csotonyi’s work, and I will own this book, and not just for the usual professional reasons. It would be cool to meet him again.)
