The price of eggs and natural gas is spiking in California

When I was living in Gainesville, FL in the 90s, there was a big to-do about water usage. The local paper exposed one of the biggest lawyers in the county who lived in a slightly-larger-than-average home as one of the worst culprits who was using almost 10x the average amount. Most folks speculated it was the reason for his immaculate lawn.

This is probably just a coincidence but on Dec 29 I got stuck on the highway near Gallup NM standstill traffic for like an hour because of an accident. When I finally got through I could see that one of the trucks was full of eggs:

The vast majority of Californians don’t live in places where it regularly gets below freezing temperatures though, so I could see how (for example) a person who owned a large-ish home in the Sierras could get an energy bill that high with prices what they are.

On my local Facebook groups of course it’s Biden’s fault.

And all the anti socialism anti communism anti government regulation freedum or die people want Biden to freeze the egg prices because I guess that’s something a president can do.

I feel for everyone feeling the pinch of these rising prices.
But we aren’t talking about the vast majority of Californians. This is Frauenfelder talking about his own bill. Doesn’t he live in the Santa Clara area?
I’m not trying to make it personal, but his post specifically mentioned that it was his bill. So unless he lives somewhere else, it’s still a conundrum how that could be a 1 month bill. I’m more riffing on how his specific bill could be so high.
