The Simpsons are coming to Disney+ in its original aspect ratio
South Park fixed this issue years ago. They went back and re-animated every old episode.
They could save themselves some time by just streaming the first 8 seasons or so…Those first few seasons were pure magic. After that, totally unwatchable. IMHO of course.
Disney needs to come up with some ways to “Give Back” to the community.
My son just got into the Simpsons and I was wondering about this when I noticed that everything was 16:9. Can they do anything about the low res opening credits sequence?
I’m so curious as to why this is taking months to accomplish. I noticed that the 16:9 conversion required them to add credits that otherwise would have been cut off, but what kind of processing has to happen to just take the original aspect ratio episodes and stream them?
What’s the aspect ratio at Universal Studios?
Thank you. It is a rule of the Internet. You can count the comments on a Simpsons comment thread before someone talks yang about some of the seasons with one hand.
Laziness.
what is the laziness? the wondering instead of doing a deep journalistic dive and counting?
huh. OK then.
I actually used two hands to write that comment. But seriously, how could people possibly not complain about later seasons of the Simpsons? Became a completely different, unwatchable snow.
Completely agree, how its survived 17-18? more seasons is mind boggling.
The “original aspect ratio episodes” don’t exist in HD. They were shot on film and then transferred to standard definition NTSC video for editing and post-production.To create HD versions (with or without cropping to widescreen) they have to go back to the film negatives and re-do the entire post-production process.
If you care about The Simpsons with the same intensity that I don’t care about the Simpsons
You’re the one who wrote an article about it, dude.
There’s a lot of pop culture I don’t care about. I don’t generally take time out of my day to tell the world how much I don’t care about it. Because that’s not how not caring about things works.
Disney is as if Ed Gein managed to produce good content. Nice content at times, but not a nice person
If you care about The Simpsons with the same intensity that I don’t care about this write up…
At least pretend to be interested in what you’re writing about. Having the reader suffer along with you slides this more on the side of hot takes than on journalism.
