This is an episode from a pretty interesting ongoing series covering WWI chronologically, as it unfolded week by week exactly 100 years ago:


Not entirely on point. But in the spirit of peacetime at Christmas in the face of war, I leave you this cartoon by MGM made in 1939.


I love this song. I got to see him perform it once.


Awesome. I grew up with my uncle singing it every Christmas.


I have a Princess Mary’s Gift tin from my Uncle Tom. That was the tobacco tin described in the podcast. He wasn’t on one of the bits that did this, but he was there in the right year. He didn’t make it back.
