The story of SNL's cue cards is fascinating. No, really.

Well, I love me a good cue card story.

As long as it starts with a ‘meet cu(t)e’.

Ah, yes. Boy-being meets girl-being beneath silvery moon, which then explodes for no adequately explored reason.

Anyone have a link for those of us not in the USA?

I wonder if Wally is related to Spike Feresten?

It’s nice when the off-camera people get some love.

It always blows me away how smoothly SNL goes for a live show. Especially the dialogue audio.

This past SNL had a still shot of someone who was clearly off-camera crew, with his name. It was obvious he’d passed away. It was actually touching in a they-also-served kind of way.

I couldn’t handle the stress of being on the crew. The on-air talent can just make a joke or laugh if they flub – the crew doesn’t have that luxury.

Yep, they’re brothers.

One of the cue card guys seen sitting at the table writing, was “Todd the Intern” from Late Show with David Letterman.

Just in case anyone else was going crazy trying to place him.

So much diversity in that department. 9 white dudes. Why would this be a male dominated job and why so fucking white???

Isn’t that what the late Joe Dicso did? They just memorialized him at the end of last show.

Edit: I guess he was the stage manager.

“— Funny bit with Joe Dicso breaking the news that there will be no cue cards tonight.”

Hopefully they’ve ventilated the place to avoid marker lung!

Yep. The guy who played “Todd the Intern” was a cue card guy on Letterman’s show as well.

It seems Wally, the main SNL card guy, has long had a private-contract cue card company (NYC Q Cards) which staffs out cue card people for several NYC based shows and things.
