I lived in SF for ten years in the '70s and '80s - I loved the sounds of the foghorns around the bay in the night, when the city was nearly quiet. They’re a big part of the soundtrack of the many adventures I enjoyed there.
Yes, I understand that radar and GPS are more dependable for ships, but it’s sad they’ve mostly gone.

Hearing a bit of Eno’s Music for Airports in this…the seemingly stochastic sounds of the horns against the waves. Gonna have to find a way to use this for a sleep aid, I think. More soothy than the hoonigans I hear racing in the local streets.

For obvious reasons (iirc it’s San Francisco the field recording that the brass plays to is from). I heard this as a string quartet and tape performance ten or more years ago.
