While ironically leaning heavily into a bastardized version of postmodernism when it comes to facts…

[ETA] Also, I love that TMBG song!

What does one suppose would be the percentage of folks outraged by the teaching of “critical race theory” (or “cultural Marxism” for that matter) who could accurately explain the concept? Maybe 5%?

Is this a joke? For a time, it might have been the case, but I think there have been plenty on the right who now champion this sort of thing. Granted, they have often been underbridge dwellers a la Ann Coulter, but that is the face of the right now.

I like to think of all this bullshit from Trump and his supporters as people who grew up believing the lies they were taught and told about American exceptionalism so that when they are faced with the truth they bend over backwards and throw fits decrying the truth as the lie. It’s very confounding.

Yet, they claim that anything that is critical of the right is “a McCarthite witch hunt”… so yes, they think it was bad, they just don’t think it’s bad to use it (or McCarthy’s actual tactics) to paint their opponents as extremists.

Well, this is them attempting to use the left’s language against itself. At the same time, I’m positive I’ve seen quite a few articles specifically saying that McCarthy and/or HUAC had some (or many) good ideas. The right feels no obligation to be consistent.

Oh yeah… I’m thinking of Anne Coulter for one? She’s had a defense of McCarthy, I think? But I bet if you look hard enough through her various “thoughts” she’s claimed at least once that “liberals” are on a McCarthy-esque witch hunt against conservatives, too.

Anti-intellectualism? Racism? Historical “revisionism”? Looks like the fascists are making another big push to see what will stick and who’ll go along with it.

Another on-topic parallel is whining out of one side of their mouths about why we are still talking about slavery, which whining out the other side that wearing masks, paying taxes and having to use preferred gender pronouns are “modern-day slavery”

They’ll explain it like so:

“Classes that say people are bad because they are white and/or men.” Trump’s EO spells it out pretty clearly, at least by Trump standards.

Which should tell us all that they have no actual clue what CRT actually argues.

yeesh, sounds like the next order will be the establishment of re-education camps.

As someone said, everything is “slavery” except slavery itself.

They’ve copied “patriotic education” from China, so the camps will be “vocational training centres”.

Yep, one of my bigoted uncles swore MLK was a communist and that’s really “why” he didn’t like/support him.

<_<

along with the accusation that CRT trainings were the REAL re-education camps all along (communism!)

When it turns out that the real re-education camps were the friends we made along the way.

They’re using a copy of protocols of the Elders of Zion, after they’ve replaced “Jews” with “Marcuse”, “Marxists”, “LGBT” and “Satanists.”
