Suggest that you look at Wild Gears (https://www.wildgears.com/) – laser-cut gears, clear acrylic, lots of odd shapes, not just circles.
I loved it as ‘finally a kid’s toy that connected art to math’. Not that I suspected I wanted something like that but it sure turned a couple of mental gears for me and I counted a lot more teeth than I’d ever sell to the tooth fairy. Now my main man is Roger Penrose and I specifically credit Spirograph 50-some-odd years ago.

The different colors were an important aspect of the toy, and it’s a shame those are washed out in this ad.
