Bobby Flay did indeed say that, and is somewhat brand agnostic, though it isn’t clear if he would of the near spear point blade shape of a knife like the BoingBoing Store’s"Japanese style," but likely Chinese made, knife.

The full quote mentions a Shun, a knife actually made in Japan.


The layers are bullshit cosmetics. The steel is alright. The price is alright but not fantastic.

Cutting through rows of plastic water bottles is wasteful af and doesn’t prove a whole lot. Wouldn’t buy on principle.
