Somewhere in my big thick 1950s hardback edition of The Wonder Book of Strange Facts (a very handsome compendium of Ripley’s Believe It or Not articles and cartoons) is an entry about a temple that would somehow scream to scare robbers away.Of course the details were sparse but this article made me think of that and I wonder if it might have been one of these temples or something like it. I don’t recall which country it was in, nor which page it was on! Great book though.

He’s playing it like a tabla, even though this temple probably pre-dates the tabla by a few hundred years. Could this be Alien technology???
