Wait! you have to pay more money to make your mac wonderful? It isnt wonderful out of it’s overpriced box to start with? Say it isn’t so!
A VPN is unlikely to solve any of these complicated, multilayered “problems”. Ideally it’s just for connecting to your company office and protecting the janky legacy programs still running on a Windows Server 2000 that IT has been begging for a budget to replace since 2009. But you can use it to get access to services that are blocked in your country.
But really, you should have sprung for the 16 GB RAM model instead of the 8 or 4 GB (if your machine is so old) version, particularly if you think you can run a Windows VM and several regular Mac apps with close to reasonable performance.
