This Day in Blogging History: Sandy's Fibonacci spiral; Change.gov; Dashboard lighters are the new cup-holders

Isn’t it about time that the auto and electronics industry come up a new standard high current 12 volt outlet design?
“Lighter plugs” are overlarge and inherently flaky and in no way should handle a high current.

And USB is not the answer.

RV, Marine and trailer plugs are a good start.

Why is USB not the answer?

I would wager that before becoming red hot lighters are drawing more current than charging even two phones would.

I’m thinking about other uses that could use more current. USB is limited to 2 amps.

A heavier outlet might handle 20 amps so you could use it to fast charge a battery or power heavy appliances.

COFFEE!
