This is the lock my locksmith/welder friend Pedro uses on his fancy E-bike.
If you buy enough of them, even if they can use an angle grinder, the combined weight will be too heavy for a bike thief to lift them off your bike to carry it away.
“I left my bike around here somewhere…”
No-one’s going to ‘borrow’ my steam-velocipede now…
It looks too heavy to be very tactical. Strategic, maybe.
The whole thing about locks of any sort, on bikes or elsewhere, isn’t that they’re supposed to be literally indestructible or unpickable, but that it takes too long and/or makes too much noise to be successful as a theft, unless you’re locking it out literally in the middle of nowhere. Another way to look at bike locks is that they force the would-be thief to do an impromptu cost/benefit analysis and decide whether they should go look for a less-well-guarded bike. (Or, as the old joke goes, “I don’t have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you.”)
