I’m probably going to hell for posting this
“Eyeroll” is a version of this that usually connects you to another person, but a certain percent of the time without warning it shows you a cropped version of a prerecorded video instead.
Damn you! Damn you to hell!
I’m never going to click on that link.
Haven’t they given up on that shit yet?
They are never going to let you down.
But they keep giving us the run-around.
(ETA: It’s enough to make you cry!)
Establishing dominance?
I didn’t read the article, but I assume this is a website that you can visit to watch a random scene from the 1981 James Bond film.
It’s such a cool solved tech problem: Take two arbitrary computers, and open a video link between them without using a lot of server resources in the middle.
And then the problems start…
You can’t moderate the connection, and if you could that would take a ton of expensive resources. You can get feedback, but unless there’s strict user verification (resources!), the abusers can have hundreds of disposable accounts, and someone underage is going to slip in, so there’s the huge moral and legal problems.
It would be possible to make a distributed app, with no central site to take down (think Pirate Bay), but euuurgh, nope nope nope.
Interesting.
But my reply was very specifically to the post immediately above mine, not a comment on the blog article content, per se.
(I guess you were one of the sensible people who has not clicked the link three posts further above that.)
