So, the chinese government doesn’t do productivity adjusted damages (still not great. But better than making intentional killing cheaper than accidental maiming. But ideally making both so unreasonably expensive everyone would freaking pay attention and do their damndest not to come close to harming a pedestrian would be a better solution). Even the fucking US Army does that when they kill civilians…

Not only that, if you do help someone you could be accused of having caused the accident and forced to pay medical costs, so people are reluctant to be the first to help someone who is injured. Interestingly enough, the good Samaritan who was sued and caused this unease about helping people later turned out to have been guilty and lying, although the effects of this case have been very real.
