i don’t know, the u.s.s. bainbridge might not have been fuzzy but it’s reactor core would probably keep you warm if you cuddled next to it. it seemed to look like either sw 7073 or sw 7072.
Okay…I got the book wrong. Statement still stands.
Most people under 27 won’t recognize the imagery of ‘television tuned to a dead channel’
As being static/gray
Television tuned to a dead channel today is black and blank.
Depends. Many “Smart TVs”, including mine, display a bright, solid primary blue when tuned to a dead broadcast channel.
Which makes “sky the color of a dead broadcast channel” a bright, clear, cheerful blue. (-:
Well… they are working in a gray area.
where as I am pretty old school in my preference for Bruce Sterling’s “The Shockwave Rider”
/Now Playing: “Vision Thing”
//we could do this all night!
Well now you’re just parroting the main post.
SW 7090
None
None more black
As far as I can tell it’s a bit like being a Bond villain - controlling the world though secret council meetings in a hidden fortress and so on. This: Making Light: Prophetable colors is informative, interesting and on topic.
Thanks for that, it really is.
Apparently June’s hot colour (sorry colours) is are:
Suzhou Silk & Moo
It’s apparently ‘subversive’…
Green is jazz. Everyone knows that.
“The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.”
A journey into the Plane of Colours to retrieve the sacred, secret name of a colour elemental tends to invovle some weird stuff, yeah. Don’t drink the water. especially if it’s Wedgewood Blue (Lavender Nightlight is usually ok but makes you sleepy).
I think it’s Ocean Grey.
Or Military Grey.
As surely as the day I first read it, the opening line of Neuromancer instantly calls to mind the grey “snow” of a TV channel whose broadcast station has powered off for the night.
For those born after the advent of digital broadcasts, it looked like this…
And occasionally this when the insomnia caught up with you…
(Also, to Autocorrect which keeps trying to change Neuromancer to Necromancer…GFY, Autocorrect.)
