If you want to see a Cabinet of Curiosity then visit the Sir John Soane’s Museum in Lincoln’s Inn Fields.

At least a third of the problems in my life, have to do with curating the various collections of things I’ve amassed. If there were a “museum curation for dummies” book out there, I’m sure I would benefit from reading it.

So true. Worth it for “A Rake’s Progress” alone.

Interesting that they mentioned trained people guarding these museums, and then later showed the Gardner, as the artworks by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Degas, etc. stolen from there in 1990 by overcoming a Berklee music student and a “budding horn player” have yet to be recovered:

Also, the mission to get people in a wider community to think of museums as theirs, and not think about museums as by and for the rich, would be helped if stories like the one retold here weren’t populated by the kinds of people, ideas, and organizations many of us don’t know even exist:
