CBC did a report on this a while back, and apparently cheating in competitive fishing has been a problem for a long long time. These guys are the first ones to be held accountable to such a serious degree, but apparently it’s rampant in the sport. This is why we can’t have nice things.

I’ve never done tournament angling. I don’t think it was always that way, but there’s just so much money in it, I imagine it’s inevitable that someone would try.
Isn’t that the secret real reason for why silver, gold, and iridium quality fish sell for more?
Who had “more severe consequences for cheating at fishing than inciting a riot at the US Capitol” on their bingo card??
