I keep all kinds of personal details out of posts because, while I would tell people here anything, I donāt want to tell the whole Internet. (And if you go back to really old posts that may not exist anymore, I used to say anything ā and I mean old old posts that may not exist before the current round of posts that may not exist any more.)
Like when I talked about two years of way too many police encounters. What I really wanted to do was transcribe those encounters word for word, because Iāve learned a lot from them, but I didnāt want that posted to the Internet at large and I went with a summary description instead.
Two weeks ago I finally realized, you know, if you post in the lounge, isnāt that restricted and protected? And doesnāt that mean Iām free to say more? (It takes me a while, but if you hit me over the head enough times eventually Iāll make the connection.)
So, I never really took advantage of it, but Iām missing it anyway.
Within the BBS. I am not aware that the modsā powers extend any further. We all have lives outside the BBS.

I donāt need āprotectionā from any malignant miscreants; I need buffers from the insufferably irksome.
That merits some explication.
When someone high fives me, or hugs me, or gives me a thumbs up, or tips their hat to me, or so forth and so on in meatspace, itās still valuable human interaction despite have no scarcity beyond the time it took them. So no, I see no reason why it should be artificially scarce here. Iām positive itās not worth arguing about.
Iām not trying to be opaque. We created a two-teir system. I donāt fault the users who chose to use said system, I fault us (the BB Staff) for creating it in the first place.
Iām having a technical issue. I keep setting this thread to Pinned Globally, but when I navigate away and come back it resets to Unpinned. Iām not sure why. Any ideas?
Eta: itās Unpinned again. Not that it really matters as itās active enough to stay at the top of the list, but still, itās not working.

Well, ātaking advantage ofā and āusingā arenāt exactly the same expressions. The first can have a somewhat negative connotation.
Please keep in mind and consideration, this is a good mention:
- Existing lounge topics will not be made public.
The lounge was private, and used as such, and should stay like that.
People can, if they wish so, download there own stuff.

Thatās the thing; achieving āregularā status was like a ārewardā for being āloyalā to the site, and consistently contributing to the communityā¦ given enough participation, anyone could become a regular.
Personally I couldnāt care less* about any fictional status we may bequeath upon ourselves; itās the sense of camaraderie and the visual memories thereof that are such a loss.
And I stated so loudly and publicly many times, before ironically becoming āregular.ā
Not being able to look back fondly over my time here stings, no bullshit.
Any ideas about the auto-tracking of topics?
Thereās an option to automatically unpin topics when youāre read the whole thing in the user preferences which is ticked by default
