Possibly, not probably. The risk is probably higher in a red state Walmart than in an airport and plane where everyone is wearing a mask and is tested.
I was super impressed at the testing/masking/QR tracking efforts in Italy. It really reduced the inherent stress of travel when everyone is always wearing (required) good masks responsibly, eagerly showing their Super Green Card data, and lining up for testing all over.
Once back in the (southern) US, it was alarming how casual and unconcerned everyone seemed in comparison.
Yeah, or more like driving while “a little bit tipsy,” because others do it, in terms of the real potential harm to others.
But there’s always some wet blanket who wants to say, “well, this selfless act wasn’t really that great.” Just like they always show up to poop on the Psaki threads. I don’t get the motivation, the world is really dark enough without dimming the few examples of brightness we get to see.
Ragnhildur Eiríksdóttir is the hero, plenty of other airlines would have left Fotieo in the toilet until they had landed and everyone else had left the plane.
She’s been tiktok-ing her quarantine (because what else to do?).
That’s not true. Many countries outside of the US haven’t approved 5 and up. It looks like Iceland is still only vaccinating 12 and up. I have a young one and a big reason to travel for Christmas was to get him vaccinated since he was able to in the US and doesn’t yet qualify back home. Sure, we chose to travel. It just sucks to hear people so callous about exposure.
Maybe technically true, but in the US I had trouble finding antigen tests while PCR tests are free and ubiquitous (until appointments filled up due to the omicron surge).
And not just “appointments filled up.” My doc started, last week, testing anyone who came in for any kind of appointment and who also had even the slightest symptoms. “We had more positive tests today than on any other day since this began.” They used a lot of tests.
Yikes.
Great point. Yikes is right. I saw something like 18% positivity rate where I am. My understanding is the previous high was 6% and above 5% is bad news.
Yeah, it’s high enough here in Seattle but go a bit south and it’s above 40% at some test sites…
Apparently they normally combine several samples to reduce testing burden, and only test the individual samples if the combined one test positive, and at such a high rate that breaks down
