The frame appears to do a sufficient job of protecting the bridge already, I suspect it’s as close to the bridge as it is now because of the proximity of the cross roads - too far back and vehicles that get caught on it will protrude back into the junction and cause disruption / get t-boned.

Aww - you’re no fun. Imagine the delight of watching videos of trucks getting their tops peeled because of a idiot and THEN getting T-boned because of another idiot! Double-bubble - what’s not to like?
