His dad’s policies modernized Canada’s divorce laws, decriminalized homosexuality, legalized contraception, created a government-matched savings plan for post-secondary education, abolished the death penalty, gave us the Canadian Human Rights Act, gave us the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, formalized Canadian bilingualism and multiculturalism, repatriated our Constitution, prevented Quebec secession and put an end to Quebec secessionist terrorism. He gave us a Just Society.
If you look at all the reasons that Canada is today a kinder, safer, fairer, more noble, more inclusive, and more just society than the US, they are almost all things that Pierre Trudeau helped put in place.
He did okay.
