Trump is apparently still terrified about financial conflicts so now he's tweeting about flag-burning and CNN

That’s my biggest worry. Everyone keeps their mouth shut while the free media is silenced, the courts are subverted, his opponents start disappearing, and then he’s Putin.

Pretty much untouchable.

My gut says he doesn’t have that in him, but all bets are off.

Think about what goes to his head without this much power.

When he fully realizes that no one exists to keep him in check, no media will push for his removal no matter what he does.

I’d rather not if it’s all the same to you.

Trump’s suggestion that he’ll jail flag-burners and introduce denaturalization as a criminal punishment is not a “non-story”. Until he’s actually nominated SC justices, it remains to be seen whether they will be ‘strict constitutionalists’.

People can focus on more than one thing at a time, you know.

I don’t blame you.

My gut has been perpetually dyspeptic since.

I’m totally stealing that line.

Well, to be more accurate, with Trump supporters it’s more like 2+2=“Squirrel!” vs. 2+2=4. I’m not even sure how one is supposed to split the difference between total nonsense and actual facts; it’s not really a continuum. :open_mouth:

Oh, not so much for Drumpfkins in particular. More for the lackwits who can’t be bothered thinking through an issue and lazily fall back on “well, the truth is in the middle.”

There is at least this-

“More details soon:”

  • No minimum wage
  • OSHA? Hah-HAH!
  • Kickbacks to Trump 2028 campaign.

I think you lucked into one pair that has a nice isolated point pretty near halfway between the two. Namely 2+2=“Square”. It’s a word that sounds a lot like “Squirrel” and it almost makes sense as 2+2=4=2^2, a square number. Also, as some students i’ve had over the years would surely tell me, 2+2=“Square” because you have two sides one way (horizontal) and two side the other way (vertical). So, as you can see, partway along the way to making sense.

Also, as with the Nissan deal in the U.K., I have a lot of doubts about what is being promised behind stuff like this.

Yes. The details will probably be the issue.

I waffle back and forth on this:

Is Trump sublimely canny with regards to social media covering for real stories?

Or is it purely dumb luck, which is bound to run out?

Today, I’m in the former camp. By the end of the week, he’ll do or say something which moves me back to the latter, I am sure.

If only Trump’s electors gave a damn about facts or the future of the country we wouldn’t be in this mess.

I think they’ve attached their identity to Trump’s glib dismissal of reality, not realizing that only he can afford to ignore reality.

Identity can’t be fought with facts.

Yeah - color me skeptical.

Pretty sure pretty much anytime a company decides to NOT move production somewhere else (yet), and they have ANY right leaning tendencies, they will post something like this. Hell, they might post something like this just to gain favor. Does that mean Trump had anything to do with their decision?

I mean they said they reached a deal - what deal? Trump has no authority yet, or is it based on promises from the future? These would be - what? Grants? Tax breaks? A deal implies they are getting something for staying.
