Trump suspended from Twitter

Knowing that Trump is going to be spending the next few days compulsively reaching for his phone to tweet and getting disappointed each time when he remembers he can’t fills me with a hell of a lot of joy.

Okay, so perfunctory “I hate Trump as much as the rest of you” aside, I really don’t know if this is the right move. Not only have we now lost the treasure trove of hypocritical tweets from the asshat, but more importantly it makes it harder for us to keep tabs. If someone’s a racist or a clown I prefer to see it up front so I know exactly what to think of them. Now this guy is just going to go to Parlor or Gab and preach to the echo chamber. I have no interest on joining either of those sites but I guess someone will and keep us all up to date.

They’re called journalists.

Here’s the difference. He had a prime time slot to spew anything that crossed his mind and everyone had to listen. People, no, fascists, took that as marching orders and did what they did on Wednesday. He can now go and say this same stuff, but he has been demoted from his prime time spot to some dark corner of the internet somewhere. He can just spew his crap over there where it will have a much smaller negative effect. That’s why it’s important for him to be kicked off all these platforms. We are in damage control mode as a nation right now.

nice self own by trump. he just admitted he knows exactly how many people voted for him.

granted he rounded up to the nearest big whole number, but whether 75,000,000 or the actual 74,216,722 voters he fooled into voting for him, that’s still significantly less than biden’s 81,2687,757

we’re finally seeing him turn a corner /s

Yeah, they were quite happy to have him while he was driving all that traffic. To update my original post, they only dropped him once they were sure he was no longer an asset AND couldn’t really do anything to retaliate against them.

True, there are still calls from the rest of the swamp creatures inhabiting the GOP to do something about big tech, but with Parler banning leftist members despite their 1A rhetoric, and at least one losing his book deal on the subject for supporting the riot, hopefully that won’t amount to much.

Americans and French - Notre Dame -> note-er day-m, Pierre SD -> Peer SD, Grand Blanc -> grand blank… list goes on.

OTOH as a moderately-bilingual western Canadian, I love the fact that Parler is a French word. Our conservatives despise anything with even a whiff of francophone on it, so it’s fun to point that out to the Canadian MAGA folks (side note: how the hell does that even work? Trump fucked Canada repeatedly, but as long as he keeps down the coloured folk it’s OK or something?)

I wanted a different word at the end of that sentence, but will reluctantly accept Twitter.

We have a bunch of pretty mortars we have been saving for the 20th. We are in rural Florida.

Discussed not doing it, but … this is America and dammit, we’re going to have some fireworks.

Correct.

It wouldn’t have stopped it, but it would have slowed it down.

He really is just roaming the halls of the White House demanding people’s phones.

i had a beloved cousin who once wrote

“in this world, there are many more horse’s asses than there are horses.”

also, an hour ago trump tried tweeting from the teamtrump twitter account and suspended 10 minutes later. that’s what, 3 or 4 accounts this evening. this is deeply unsettling.

I don’t think Trump knows how to handle being told “NO!” by someone who has more power than him.
