Honestly his voice just instantly sends me into a blind rage at this point and I don’t have the money to replace our TV, so…
Didn’t need an excuse. Everyone around me already knows it’s best I don’t vomit all over the TV.
My excuse is that I can’t stand to watch Trump talk for three seconds. I watched Colbert’s monologue about the state of the union on youtube, but whenever they showed a clip of Trump talking I jumped ahead in the video. The only part of the state of the union I watched was a supercut of every time Trump said “murder”, “crime”, “violence” or the like.
I’m with @anon50609448. His voice sets me off. Every time I hear his voice, it’s like scratching on a blackboard. Then I have a momentary flash of anger and I think, “WTF. How in hell did people vote for him?” This is followed by a sense of despair, which lasts for a few hours.
I give my husband props for taking some of the hits by watching his sound bites and SOTUs, and then relating the low points* for me. I still get angry, but the despair doesn’t linger.
*which is everything he says
I watched roughly 30 sec and could not take that grandiose criminal gloating over his “achievements.” “If we had not reversed the failed policies of the previous administration…” was my breaking point. So yeah, not gonna do that to myself. Big Bang reruns were much more enjoyable.
Owch, that’s a low bar.
The whole government was in a hot dense mess
Nearly four years ago, impeachment started late…
At the prayer breakfast, Trump said, “I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong.”
Is he telling the assembled hypocrites to vote for his opponent then? Finally, some honesty!!
What? That’s not what he meant? Fuck.
Trump thinks other humans beings are bit parts in a movie in which Trump is the protagonist. Their actions relate back 100% to Trump and exist only to help or foil Trump, to move the plot along.
I’m trying to think of any imaginable concept of how people think or how they make decisions - other than that Trump-only perspective - that could make any sense of the idea that Romney voted for removal despite knowing it was wrong and used religion as an excuse. It’s an unfathomable idea.
Up until Trump I watched every State of the Union - beginning to end. Even W and Ronnie.
I just can’t do it - I tried.
I got into an argument with my local bartender. He tuned it in for a couple of girls who walked in against my objections. I walked away and prob will not go back.
Here’s hoping you have more than one nice local watering hole.
Tripping Ballz! This explains soooo much.
Digitalis?
Could be. Whatever it is, something is affecting him. TV lighting is bright.
“ There are many drugs that can work on the brain’s neurotransmitters and affect the dilation of the pupils. These include SSRI antidepressants, amphetamines, MDMA, psilocybin, LSD, ecstasy, cocaine and mescaline. In the case of these drugs, serotonin (a brain chemical affecting mood) agonizes the 5-HT2A receptors in the brain and kicks off dilation. Adrenergic receptors, another neurotransmitter, are affected by other drugs (such as marijuana) when dopamine is released and, once more, results in dilated pupils.”
