Am I missing something here? Isn’t it just stunningly stupid to advertise for child sex in such an open blatant manner. "If I add a no cops wanted " line then they can’t get me cause I’ve warned them I’m not interested in cops. I’d love to hear how his logic worked on this.
Its so wrong at all levels it doesn’t bear comment but the Stupid of it is a thing of it’s own.

Yeah…but that doesn’t include self-awareness, apparently. Openly declaring a need to “weed out cops” is certainly an intriguing tactic to avoid attention, though.

I’m not sure I see how his working for TSA is relevant. It’s not like they hold themselves out as moral exemplars. They’re mostly just low-level civil servants trying to do a really boring job - like any rent-a-cop, but with a decent pension plan. Is it even surprising a few creeps and control freaks slip through the screening? In fact - if this guy has never offended before, then exactly how is a background check supposed to weed him out? Ask his neighbors if they think he might be a pervert?
i agree that it’s not relevant to any moral judgment of this one person.
however, it’s worth noting occasionally that the watchmen can be offensive perverts too and so, maybe, for this reason, we shouldn’t have watchmen unless they’re actually necessary. in this sense it is relevant.

The mainstream media tendency to turn crime (and/or pathological behaviour) into a topic for sensational reporting incl. outing the “perps” is not very befitting a site like boingboing. Who gives a fuck what the guy is called. It’s newsworthy if the police overstepped their boundaries. It is newsworthy if the guy would have assaulted someone while on the job. But the way it stands its just a sad story that courts, lawyers and therapists need to deal with.
