TSA lines grow to 3 hours, snake outside the terminals, with no end in sight

There’s a word for paying people not to hurt you. What is it called when you pay for them not to hurt you As Much?

If I remember correctly from this https://www.dhs.gov/news/2016/03/01/written-testimony-tsa-administrator-peter-neffenger-senate-appropriations the director of TSA was saying that they were focusing back on “security” than efficiency which would mean longer wait times. I guess he followed through with that promise.

It’s actually not bad if you break it down mathematically. It’s $85 for five years, which equates to $17 a year, if you travel more frequently it goes down to $1.42 a month, roughly $0.33 a week and $.05 a day. Aside from the fact of being “treated like a terrorist” it really isn’t that expensive. It’s better than what Clear gives you which is $179 a year and all it does is get you past where they check your ID.

That really doesn’t make any sense. They’re already sitting down! What difference does it make to them whether they’re sitting on line or sitting in the exact same wheelchair at the gate?

I know you’re talking about the principle of it, but…

The TSA gambled on millions of wealthy Americans opting out of its pornoscanner-and-shoe-removal process and signing up for its Precheck policy

You do realize that precheck is only $17 per year, right ($85 every five years)?

Economist subscription has become VERY expensive.

okay, what about R101?

Speaking as someone for whom Dubya was way too liberal, I quite agree.

Having said that, the first progressive Presidential candidate whose platform includes the outright abolition of the TSA will absolutely get a contribution and a vote from me.

Is it really that easy to manipulate you? Great! I love dark chocolate, with or without nuts, never fruit + chocolate (despite liking both, separately). And I guess you’re just going to have to go looking for images and gifs of Idris Elba, the less clothing the better.

People in wheelchairs are often medically compromised by more than just not being able to walk long distances. Crowds, especially when you’re down below the level where you can breathe “fresh” air, can be difficult to take when weak, frail, nauseous, etc.

Wealthy Americans, if they fly commercial, can afford first class with it’s own “Priority Access” security line. If you’re just moderately wealthy, you likely get a full refund of the fee from Amex as a cardholder perk.

I suspect TSA planned on many more frequent fliers (mostly business travelers) signing up for TSA Pre✓ ® or Global Entry, but didn’t count on the rarity of employers who reimburse the cost; most business travelers are loath to spend their own money on luxuries like Pre✓.

But again: bits are free. If everyone would stop confining themselves to a hack of a completely different, 400-year-old medium, the internet technologies will change to keep up.

It’s always been VERY expensive, at least since the late 80’s. I was able to get an educational rate at one point in the 90’s, but then I no longer qualified.

People not in wheelchairs are often medically compromised in non-obvious ways as well. I am, and no one ever lets me skip to the head of the line.

You sound like a very good friend of mine who has every right to claim handicapped status (parking rights, etc.) but chooses not to because she knows people judge her because she doesn’t LOOK disabled. All I can say is what I say to her: when someone legitimately needs a little extra help to keep from being in pain and crippling exhaustion, then it’s the right thing to do. Strangers don’t have to deal with the effects of not taking proper care of yourself. Do what is right for you to stay healthy and relatively pain-free.

Sorry, I did not find any photos of Idris Elba covered in dark chocolate.

I find that hard to believe. The man was born dripping in dark chocolate. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The one situation where I found I should have been carrying the GE card: clearing into the US at YVR (Vancouver) airport in Canada.

In theory it will help expedite your entry at other US ports of entry if the passport scanners are down.

YYZ is Toronto’s airport. Vancovuer’s is YVR.
