That’s incredibly difficult to pull off - sesame oil has a very low smoke point compared to other oils like peanut or soy that are more often used for frying.

What are the bamboo things taking up space on the sidewalk? It looks like they are meant to keep people from loitering (sleeping?) under the awning.

There’s just something particularly masterful about the way the Japanese blend flavors to create something subtle and sublime. There’s nothing in the world quite like a well prepared ramen, that damned broth!
Disclaimer: Had curry rice with seafood, as well as soba noodles, last night. Felt like a healthy king afterwards.

Well I’d like to get some top quality sesame oil. i tossed the Chinese stuff after reading about “gutter oil.”
