If only there was something that could be done about the private equity profiteers and pharmabros who are jacking up the prices of health care for everyone, ensuring quality care is virtually unaffordable anywhere except in unregulated spots on the globe.

So much for socialist healthcare in European countries?

(Unless the procedure was for entirely cosmetic reasons.)

I thought this was a little silly when i first read about it,

…but today’s headline would have made much more sense with the amended spelling! *shakes fist at E Toohey (once again)* :turkey:

I wish there was slightly more detail about what was wrong with the teeth that made “we need to start by grinding all your real teeth down” sound like a practical treatment plan. Like, were all the teeth going to come out anyway? Did someone in Turkey suggest that she could manage with only crowns?

I don’t know the particulars of Belgian health care, but in several European countries dental treatment is only available privately.

Depends a lot on the country, but (AFAIK) dental expenses are not fully covered by national health services.

In Sweden, they are free until the year of your 24th birthday, then they are privately paid.
There’s a quota, though, that’s contributed by healthcare, to ease the higher cost treatments:

Note that reimbursement is calculated on standardized “reference prices” which can differ substantially from the actual price you pay to the dentist.

OTOH, in Italy, only basic dental healthcare (fillings, checks, etc.) is provided to child 0-14 and none later, unless you have disabilities or financial vulnerabilities (note: this is a very condensed summary, rules are quite complicated…).
