Given that Morris obviously didn’t intend to say a racist slur, the usual (and I think more plausible) explanation when this sort of thing happens is that it was a brainfart, admitting the utterance while disclaiming intent and highlighting the weird, mangled manouvers our brains sometimes take under pressure. However, that explanation cops to the bad word lurking in one’s neurons, and a Rochester, N.Y., weatherman lost his job recently after such an explanation was offered in his case.

Oh boy, this again.

IMO, their explanation is plausible and her apology passes the sniff test.

I’m not prepared to crucify them on the strength of one stumbled word in an 18 second TV clip.

My opinion is subject to change if evidence emerges they have a history of using racial slurs.

Either she mixed up the words in her brain, or an MSNBC host decided she would use the news of Kobe Bryants death to say the n word with no context for no reason, part of a dastardly plan to be racist on air for some reason?

That’s the point. She didn’t do anything. Her problem was apologizing for a verbal stumble, thus validating this ridiculous topic. The people upset by this were also upset by playing “Stairway to Heaven” backwards, convinced they heard “My Sweet Satan”.
