I’m shocked, SHOCKED, that a quasi-legal system cobbled together by a megacorp had easily exploitable loopholes in it.
A.R.? I’m guessing they were trying to pose as Atlantic Records.
Well at least they weren’t A&R - that lot are notoriously hit and miss.
But the ads running on YouTube are never scams… no. never.
I’m only surprised they were so easily exploitable by someone who wasn’t a megacorp.
My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the music rights business is pretty murky and it wasn’t difficult to set up a bunch of shell companies that didn’t look any dodgier than shell companies that really do own the rights to thousands of songs.
I guess I have a high tolerance for short ads-- but recently, youtube has been serving up 30 minute seminars…
