o_0 I thought Europe kicked out all the Puritans so they could put fig leaves on the Indians. I thought the UK was cool with boobies and sex on later night TV (re: Misfits). Maybe you guys aren’t as cool and liberal as the rest of Europe.

The puritans were not kicked out – a (very) small subset left of their own accord because Britain was not puritan enough. But then just a few decades later the remaining puritans staged a hostile takeover.

The nutters have completely taken over the Tory party. I mean, they’re demented, evil shits by definition, but the absolute bampots are definitely in the ascendant right now. This is what happens when you let an ex-Home Secretary be PM. A stint as Home Sec should automatically preclude you from the job, IMO. Also, we need to raze the offices of the Sun and the Mail to the ground. That’d help.

The failed puritanical forays of the US should be examples enough not to tread down this path.

They’re full on ‘we can do whatever the fuck we want’ mode post EU referendum result thanks in part to the Parliamentary Labour Party’s decision to commit slow motion suicide through interminable internecine warfare and conveniently forgetting that they’re supposed to be the OPPOSITION to these sociopaths I mean, when your leader gets elected twice may be you should listen to what he’s saying…

Blocking all the porn on the internet? Yeah. Best of luck with that. Maybe North Korea can give you a few pointers on how to run a country?

Hey, if it worked for booze I am sure it will work for porn.

If we criminalize porn, only criminals will have porn!

“MPs have worked out that attempts to verify adult’s ages won’t stop children from accessing other pornographic websites: so their proposed answer is to start censoring these websites.”
[/quote]I wonder what’ll happen once they realise censoring the websites will have zero effect also?

If they want some examples, they can look to their censoring of torrent sites in the UK: which slows down people entire tens of seconds from accessing them anyway…

I would just like to point out that, having had Parliamentary democracy slightly longer than the US, we have had time to accumulate more dead wood, even taking our smaller population into account.
We have a so-called Opposition that seems to have a significant number of members of the ruling party in it under cover; we have a ruling party that seems currently to be in a competition for most demented member of parliament; and we have a number of people who explain why I’m unwilling to attack the Russians for putting up with Zhirinovsky, because they make him look logical, moderate and pragmatic.
When you read the term “Mother of Parliaments”, just think for a moment of all the mothers who end up as alcoholics and in denial about the way they brought up their children. Ours is one of them.
(The sadly lamented Parliamentary commentator Simon Hoggart once said that the British parliament is fuelled by, and lubricated by, alcohol, and without it, it would cease to function.)

Becoming an oxymoron. What has happened to them?

I’m not going to risk arrest by joining you in this modest proposal, but what exactly have the Telegraph and the Express done that you pass over them? Did you find five righteous men in them?
Or are you short on brimstone and salt?

Don’t worry. We’ll catch up. They say alcoholism is hereditary.

I think they should take all pornography off the internet and possibly put it into a paper medium, possibly something inexpensive, a magazine, let’s say. And then you’ve created a substance you can control! Card people in stores, that sort of thing. Makes total sense to me!

Let’s not forget those Puritans later left their new home, Holland, because they thought their kids were in danger of integrating and becoming too Dutch.

… promptly ended up in South Africa for a few generations. Whence some may have returned to the motherland and its expats

Are they under the impression that porn is unpopular?
