A de facto ad for chinchillas as pets. Too cute not to watch, though.
I love that they occasionally put nail polish on the babies’ toenails so they can tell 'em apart Much more fun than collars.
Like squeaky excitable atoms they rearrange themselves back to resting state upon feeding.
Now I think that one of the best burglar alarms one can have is a whole bunch of squeaky toys spread out on the floor in front of the windows.
Squeaky toys interspersed with Lego bricks.
The whole process is automated if you have a toddler.
I’d been following Dansk Jävlarna on tumblr for some time, and really enjoyed the bizarre, frequently occult/mystical vintage illustrations. [ETA: To access individual posts, mouse over an image. The little icon 2nd from L is the link.]
Then I got hip to Professor Oddfellow’s y00t00b videos, which also feature bizarre, frequently occult/mystical vintage illustrations. Lotsa great music, too.
I saw the tumblr user had posted a Prof Oddfellow vid…and eventually discovered they’re the same personage. I left a comment on an esp good vid, complimented him on his tumblr, and that the friends I’d hipped love it, too. He graciously thanked me.
About a month ago he posted a great, weird old illustration of a strange lamp-y sort of thing. I was inspired to repost it, asking via @ if it’s a Spirit Lamp. I added a video of Lee Scratch Perry’s Bad Lamp (a version of Leo Graham’s Black Candle - both here), and he replied that he loved the song and the juxtaposition.
We’ve been chatting ever since.
He even popped me in his pocket and took me along on a road trip, sending tales of their adventures, and photo gallery updates. I’d sent links to interesting-sounding places in the cities they’d soon be visiting, several of which they did make use of, and V much enjoyed!
After a while he invited me to provide ideas for future videos, seeing as we’re rather like-minded & share an ahem odd sense of humor. I was amazed & said it was very sweet of him, and that I’d actually been thinking about dragons all day. Turned out he’d been thinking of them, too, and even had a song that would work well in a vid re: dragons and sea serpents. He said he’d be working on it.
Here is the result!
The map of Chattanooga is a sort of inside joke: he’d sent lots of pics of cool stuff there.
Same with the reference to melting in heat - they’d picked an exceptionally hot coupla weeks for their Southern Tour, y’all.
Everything about the video took me to the edge of a map! Super find.
The Professor himself is a great find I treasure our new friendship. Funny, sweet, weird, imtelligent, imaginative, erudite - what’s not to like?
Here’s his non-tumblr blog, Abecedarian
Bullwinkle snatching some sprinkle.
In other news:
Some phat bass here; audio up:
The video’s 12+ MB, so here’s the link to th’ tumblr post:
No shit.
I wonder if this will work.
