Unsettling Oregon house listed for sale

I suspect estate agents (realtors) dislike(d) floor plans because it reduces the number of people who will undertake physical viewings. In the UK all the online property sites now include floor plans and it has become the exception not to.

I like it.
I’ve lived in plenty of places that aren’t perfect rectangles (probably more common in Europe than the US).
Being a non-standard shape appeals to me. Who really wants to live in a little box (made of ticky-tacky)?

There’s artistry in the shapes and mitres.
But then the same tile, same wood tone, same paint tone just sprayed everywhere kills any curiosity the eye might have had.

The bathroom sink with the natural log counter was cool- but the sink didn’t even sit flush in it.

But the biggest issue to me was the kitchen, absolutely. The appliances scream “cheap-ass landlord”, the rudimentary counters, exposed plumbing, and … 9th grade shop class aesthetic cabinetry?

The guy may have been a genius, a business man, but he did not give a fuck about cooking.

The kitchen in one of my sister’s first houses contained a small-ish fridge/freezer, a sink, a massive amount of cupboard space and a microwave. No stove/oven or preparation areas.

The house had a plastic chimney, too - luckily not connected to anything!

Have seen a lot of these non square rooms up North of San Francisco. Geodesic domes always have funky bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchens. Harbin hot springs had lots of this. It makes things seem extraordinary in a way that bypasses the logical brain.

I love this house. I would like one similar, with a better kitchen. And not in the US.

Although the name is relatively new – for the first twenty-some years of the library’s existence, it was just the Central UCSD Library. But when it needed to be rennovated in the 1990s, the university reached out to the Suess’ widow (who lived in the area) and the building was renamed for her and her late husband as thanks for her donation.

I am wondering wether the interior of the house was painted all white with the intention to make it more sellable? Maybe the original design had a colour scheme that would go some way to explain the logic behind the unusual partitions? Also, I would imagine that if we had a plan of the interior walls it might make a lot more sense.
